Dr. Jean-Marc Retrouvey is the founder of West Island Orthodontics, a practice located on Montreal's West Island focusing on high quality and personalized orthodontic care. He practices all aspects of Orthodontics with an emphasis on complex and multidisciplinary treatments.
Dr. Jean-Marc Retrouvey has been the Director of the Division of Orthodontics at McGill University, Faculty of Dentistry, since 2001. He is also a guest lecturer at Université Laval, Quebec and is associated with the Montreal Children's Hospital (1996) and the Montreal General Hospital (2001).
Dr. Jean-Marc Retrouvey obtained his degree in Dentistry (DMD) from the Université de Montréal in 1978. After several years of private practice he attended Postgraduate School and obtained a Masters Degree in Orthodontics from Boston University in 1993. In 2005, he successfully became a Fellow in the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (Orthodontics).
Dr. Jean-Marc Retrouvey has presented lectures on all aspects of Orthodontics in several countries, including France, China, Iran, Portugal, Romania, Morocco and Canada.
Dr. Jean-Marc Retrouvey was recognized by his students and peers in 2005 when he was awarded the McGill Dental Student Society Clinical Teaching Award for outstanding teaching in the didactic and clinical curriculum. Also in 2005, in collaboration with McGill University Instructional Media Services, Dr. Retrouvey was awarded the HSCA Bronze Medal Award by the Health and Science Communications Association for the development of an interactive CD-ROM-based course in Orthodontics Diagnosis. This program has been adopted as a teaching instrument by several universities.
In 2006, Dr. Retrouvey received the W.W. Wood Award for Excellence in Dental Education. In 2008, he was awarded the Howard Katz Award for teaching, and leadership in undergraduate dental education by his fellow professors and alumni.
